Swor Samrat Narayan Gopal's name needs no introduction to all the Nepali out there. Being the most popular singer in the history of Nepali music, he was also given the tag of Swor Samrat (Emperor of Voice). His songs from more than two decades ago are still in the mouth of Nepali people and his evergreen songs still gets much airplay in the radio stations throughout the country. A legend in the Modern Music's first generation (Adhunik Geet yug) was borned today, (Oct 4) in the year 1939. Apart from Singing, he loved sports, photography and cooking. Marking his birth anniversary, I am here to post top ten unknown incidents in his life (taken from film maker/writer Prakash Sayami).

1. Narayan Gopal is one of the singer who had gained such heights of popularity with minimum number of song. He had just recorded 137 songs in his life.
2. Narayan Gopal registered himself as N. Gopal during his entrance to Radio Nepal.
3. Narayan Gopal's favorite singer was Mehdi Hassan. He too loved pehelmani (body building) like Mehdi Hassan who once believed that in order to be a good musician, one has to get into body building. Narayan Gopal even called himself as "Syando Pehelman"
