Mastram creating a buzz in Bollywood

Mastram, the fictional autobiography of  an anonymous erotic writer, is scheduled to release on May 9, 2014. There has been huge competition in getting the all india rights for the movie as it has created a buzz from the very beginning with such explicit content. Gangs of Wasseypur writer Akhilesh Jaiswal has set his foot in film making with the directorial debut in Mastram. The trailer has already garnered million hits on the video sharing website Youtube. With no any star cast and not even a big production flick, the movie has created such a hype in Indian film Industry that it is already seen as a big hit, with such a provoking adult content.
The movie is a story of a writer who aspires to be an established author but ends up writing pornography anonymously under the name Mastram and becomes an instant hit in the railway stalls, small streets in North India. As the Mastram books are even published today but his identity is not out yet, the movie is based on the fictional biography of the popular pornogrpahy writer. The filmmaker has also tried to convey message to the society to change the way in treating a porn writer.
Bohra Bohrs production Mastram stars Rahul Bagga in the lead role whereas Tara Alisha berry debuts as his wife. Though It has created a big hype in our southern neighbour and is scheduled to release on May 9, the movie is not known to release on the same date here in Nepal. No worries as the pirated ones will be widespread on the very same date, but it will be a great fun to watch it in bigger screen.

Here is the traler of the movie in Youtube.

Kabaddi nepali movie review

The movie opens in Naurikot- a village in Mustang (400km from Kathmandu) where a third-grade failed "Kaji" has one and only dream of "owning" Maiya- his soltinee (Daughter of maternal uncle). Though he has the first claim to marry his "Mama ko chori" as per a belief in Thakali community, she does not give a shit for the Loafer "Fupu ko chora" may be due to his rude behavior, and he also does not seem the perfect choice for a girl who wish to pursue her study in town. Two other Loafers do everything to support Kaji, they even back him to forcibly take away Maiya to make his spouse: a tradition in Magar community which is now in the verge of becoming obsolete. Enter a guest from Kathmandu, who speaks filmy kind of dialogue with some fishy motives, allures Maiya, troubles Kaji's life and the serious tussle begins with physical assault to long chase. The Kabaddi (one of the popular traditional game in Nepal) chase in the second half of the film changes venue to Kathmandu and the most of the fun shown in the trailer ends to a different turn. Most of us find the first half to be more entertaining but second half does not stop pleasing you till the end with a twist in the story line.

Dayahang Rai with his "gople" attitude is always the best and people adore the Kaji character so much that even when he crosses the limit for troubling Maiya, you are towards Kaji's side (at least I was). Loot maker Nischal Basnet has now shown his acting skills in the movie that was not quite foolproof with his cameo appearance in Uma and Fitkiree, yet he believes more in his direction as mentioned as a part of the movie. Female lead Rishma Gurung's innocent performance is also wonderful on the screen, giving a fresh look to the movie alongside such a pristine location. Pleasant humor with such native story of plain love, ethnic tradition, myths, hatred and wise screenplay makes it a fine movie with Director Ram Babu Gurung playing his part quite satisfyingly with no overdone acting and nice presentation. But the lip syncing in the movie fails in many scenes, also including during the only song "Maya khai kasle bujhyo" - a noticeable lapse for such a nice movie.

As Nepali people still await Loot  like movies to pour into the cinema hall, Kabaddi meets the level to draw a big attention, making a great start to the cinema industry for the year 2071. A super duper from my side which means a big Yes for the total entertainment.
With the new idea to crowd fund a movie where actors to technical crew take a stake of the profit, it is quite easy to sustain the movie and we need more of such funding or big productions conglomerate for some time to uplift the industry in real sense.
The movie Kabaddi went totally with my intuition as mentioned in the preview- I have written few days back despite a lil' skepticism back then. When the movie started reel-ing inside the full packed QFX hall, laughing gas flew like a wildfire making the "ranga" cum bike ride such a fun that everyone kept laughing and they hailed the work with a huge round of applause. It seems movie crew also enjoyed it as much we appreciate the movie, as known from the clipping of the shooting shown towards the end.

Kabaddi nepali movie Preview

Click here to read the review of Kabaddi

Surprise comes to those who wait.
Though the above quote and the trailer of the nepali movie Kabaddi has so much to say about the movie, the real saying will only be known on Baishak 12, "Raga chadne miti". The movie trailer has already won the hearts of many with the funny local villagers accent and dialogues. Shot in a village of Mustang, the comedy love story is known to offer the battle between "Kaji" and "Sahar ko Pahuna" to get "Soltini".
The dumb "Gople" looks of Dayahang Rai is quite sensational and it is expected to make high turn out for that character alone. Even the presence of fame "Loot" director Nischal Basnet adds more excitement in the people. He is also one of the direct investor of the movie together with Sunil Rauniyar, where other artists like Director Ram Babu Gurung (Anagarik), Actor Dayahang Rai, Cinematographer Puroshottam Pradhan are also the indirect investor of the movie for not taking any allowance for the movie. They are known to share the movie profit as their remuneration.

The movie also has in store for the debutante actress Rishma Gurung, the female lead in the movie who had already performed in some local Gurung movies. Her naive performance in the movie known so far from the trailer is quite remarkable and has much to do for the natural glance though the movie has some filmy elements in it. The powerful dialogues is more hilarious and I expect more of such, other than those in the trailer like "Man pareko jutta po jutta natra khali khutta nai thik cha", " Hoina aba chopne ho.... Kukhuro ho ra chopna lai", "Tapai ta film ko hero jasto dekhinu huncha ta , bhanepachi villian chahi ko paryo ta", "ye dai yo ghoda ho ki khacchad ho.... Raga ho bhai". I am quite restless to see how the Kabaddi jumble unfolds on Baisakh 12, 2071: the very first day of its release.
From all the intense remarks from the people and the innovative concepts in reaching more people like the trailer parody contest and Daily quiz, I am sure of the movie to be a smash hit unless it falls on serious ground which had happened previously with some Nepali movies. Some preparedness though I am more on the +ve side.
Lets promote Nepali cinema.

Samsung Galaxy S5 review with price in Nepal.

Samsung's latest high end smartphone Galaxy S5 has been released in the market all over the world, and Nepal is no exception. Despite being a small market, Authorized dealer of Samsung, International Marketing Service (IMS) had also made arrangement to prebook the flagship phone here in Nepal and the phone was made available on the very day of its launch worldwide. Price at hefty sum of NRs 76,000, the latest succesor of South Korean Handset maker Samsung's Galaxy series, S5 is a big treat to all the gadget freaks out there.
The phone is also bundled with Nepal Telecom to provide free SIM card with a free data of 5GB. Samsung wearables were also launched with GS5 whose purchase entitles you to Rs 3000 off in the overall price, valid for the month of April.

S5 comes with faster processor, better camera, long battery life, enhanced S health, new wearable and finger print Scanning features. The phone is powered by Quadcore 2.5 GHz Snapdragon 801 Processor, 2GB RAM which makes it a powerful phone. Running with the latest OS Android KitKat 4.4.2, S5 uses isocell technology in its camera for better sharpness, faster auto-focus and low light sensitivity. Rear and Front cameras are of 16 MP and 2 MP resolution with the same aperture as that of S4. Compared to its predecessor S4, there is longer battery life in S5 with 28000 mAh ( up from 2600 mAh). Internal Memory space comes with either 16 GB or 32 GB whereas micro SD slot is also present for extension up to 128 GB of external Storage. Connectivity includes WiFi, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/GLoNASS, USB OTG, GSM/EDGE, HSPA+ and different variants of LTE to support different regional carriers. The water and dust resistant phone also supports finger print scanning feature, heart rate monitor with enhanced S health.

Despite such features, the phone has got mixed reviews from tech reviewers. People have questioned the accuracy of finger print scanning and heart rate from S Health, which needs to be improved for good word of mouth. S5 even falls short of the exciting innovation that Galaxy series carried in all these years and is also a big let down for the looks of such high end smartphone. Major innovation needs to developed for Samsung Galaxy S6 that Samsung may resist to release within the year 2014 with slight decrease in the profit due to market saturation and tough competition for high end smartphones.
But with such powerful processor, better camera and connectivity, S5 is a good flagship Android phone.

How to solve Xiaomi MI2s USB connection problem in Windows XP.

Though Microsoft has announced the end of support for Windows XP, it  is running here and there be it due to the unavailability of latest windows or the computer itself being outdated for Windows 7. So for all those Xiaomi MI2s users who are encountering this connection problem with Windows XP, you can solve it instantly with the following procedure.

-> Connect your Xiaomi MI2 or MI2s with the computer.
->Open the drive named Xiaomi in Mycomputer.
->Find the file named setup.exe inside the Xiaomi drive.

->Right click the file to select properties.

->Click compatibility Tab in the setup Properties.
->Check "Run this program in compatibility mode for", select your windows version which is Windows 2000 in case of Windows XP.
->Click apply and OK.

->Run the setup.exe file in the Xiaomi drive.
->Go with yes, next, OK to setup. Even if it is in Chinese, it is easy for you to select those.
->Click continue anyway if asked.
->Click install automatically if you are asked for the setup.
->Your Xiaomi phone will be connected after successful installation of the driver.
Now you can easily access the files in the phone from the Mi2 drive in My Computer.

Though the above procedure works for MI2s, the exact stuff also works for the USB connection problem in Xiaomi MI3 phone to access the phone files. I hope there is no such problem in connection for Windows 7 when I update to Windows 7 dumping my favorite OS: Windows XP.

5G talk

April 14, 2014: Living in that part of the world where 3G is not ubiquitous, talking 5G may sound futile to many but we need to be aware of where the world is heading. While 4G is still in infancy stage in the world, the unabated development of mobile technology is now moving towards fifth generation. As it is seen that a new generation mobile appears almost in a decade, 5G seems not coming before 2020. There is no any requirements set by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) for the 5G mobile broadband, but some alliances and groups of vendors/carriers together with some universities are working to prepare a concrete view of what 5G is, to accelerate its adoption. NGMN (Next Generation Mobile Networks) and METIS 2020 (Mobile and Wireless communication enablers for twenty-twenty Information Society) are among those who have announced to lay the foundation for 5G. ITU itself has set 2015 as the year to have formulated its vision and present it in the World Radio Communication (WRC) conference 2015 that will provide the framework of International Mobile Telecommunication (IMT) for 2020 and beyond.
The growth of data usage is increasing significantly as it won't only be your mobile or tablet or computer that consumes internet in the coming 10 years but plethora of other devices (wearable to machines with unique address and censor) will require connection to create Internet of things (IOT). This IOT approach requires multi-fold increase in the internet speed plus the no of devices to connect also needs to increase significantly, along with the transition to new ip addressing scheme (IPv6). So it is expected that 1 Gbps data connection from 4G wont be enough that time, which requires new radio access technologies, of which some candidates are FBMC (Filter Bank Multi Carrier), NOMA (Non Orthogonal Multiple Access), Massive MIMO, Cognitive radio, C-RAN (Cloud RAN) and multi technology carrier aggregation. As the connection speed demand higher bandwidth, extremely high frequency (MMW) can be expected to use with very high spectral efficiency and low latency.
Another imminent issue will be massive deployment of small cells (with hetNet?) that increases capacity, coverage and require least planning with dynamic configuration of huge no. of cells by full fledged SON (Self Organizing Network or there may be "No more cell concept" with Cloud RAN. 5G is also known to radically change the network performance measurement metric from bits per sec to probably bits per joule or bits per 100 metre of coverage. So with 5G, spectrum efficiency is not only the only criteria but also demands energy efficiency to be considered together.
Better cell edge connectivity also needs to be ensured with IRC(Interference Rejection Combining), ICIC(Inter Cell Interference Coordination) , COMP (Coordinated multi point transmission and reception) like features for seamless connectivity. Cloud computing with 5G will not just be the present day cloud storage but it should encompass real time applications to handle the data from various devices.
With such fiber like speeds and massive no. of connections, 5G should support wide range of service scenarios like including M2M (Machine to Machine), D2D (Device to Device), PPDR (Public Protection Disaster Relief) communications.
But the challenges of 5G lies in the development of new RAT (from research that may take long) for low energy consuming, spectral efficient components to give out higher speeds (than 4G LTE) with low latency. Spectral requirement is another major issue to support the next generation mobile in an universal way, that follows spectral re-farming after setting up of the requirements. IPV6 management for the IOT demands configuration of such huge devices, privacy & safety of the devices. Dynamic Spectrum Access (DSA) is one of the key research to dynamically allocate the frequency resources cross technologies from different bands for dynamic reuse after spectrum sensing, that is only possible with cognitive radio but comes with additional challenges like wide band antennas, spectrum sensors and the security of Cognitive radio Network (CRN). Radio propagation in millimeter wave (MMW) even has this concern of low penetration and additional attenuation due to gases, rain in the environment; also making it ideal for densely packed communication.
As most of the issues talked above are under research and it will take years to get the next generation mobile broadband standard, I will be following the development quietly closely (from the journals) which I also did for its predecessor 4G but did not write that much. Lets wait and see how much I put in for future write-ups on 5G.
