Lalitpur bandh Update: Though security Personnel have barricaded Bagmati Bridge to bar people from entering Lalitpur with their vehicles, vehicles (very less in number) inside Lalitpur are running freely without any intervention. People have taken teku bridge and the newly made bridge near buddhanagar to enter Lalitpur.
Also as compared to yesterday, traffic in Kathmandu have risen significantly and even there are some jams in Tripureshwor area.
In protest to the temporary settlement of Thapathali squatters in the Sundarighat area, locals there today enforced Lalitpur bandh. Transportation in the area is halted disturbing normal life of the citizens not only in Lalitpur but in the whole of Kathmandu. Markets, offices, Institutions are shut down with the bandh in Lalitpur.Earlier Government suddenly demolished the illegal structures of the squatters living on the bank of Bagmati river in Thapathali on 8th May, 2012, due to which they have been living in a ill condition again near the banks. Government then decided to build temporary settlement in the Sundarighat area which locals promise not to let that happen.
