Now this is official.... Pranab Mukherjee will be the 13th President of India. Even before the election took place on July 19, UPA backed candidate Pranab Mukherjee seemed as a frontrunner to win the race. But now with the count results, Pranab mukherjee- the congress insider and former minster for many portfolio, will be the first person of India, by winning over opposition candidate P. Sangama. He will be taking the oath of office from the chief justice of India on July 25.
Meanwhile it is learned that PM Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi are meeting Pranab Mukherjee to congratulate the next first person of India.
People have started celebrating in Delhi, Kolkata and his native village Mirati in Birbhum district of West Bengal for the election result.
Mukherjee, also referred to as the best Prime Minister India never had, shall also be the first Bengali President of India.
