Nokia to introduce indoor GPS solution a.k.a HAIP

What is HAIP- Indoor GPS Solution?

Nokia, the pioneer in mobile itself, keeps on adding new features in its mobile, the latest being indoor navigation solution that gives user the ability to find specific spot/thing in a big mall/stores, big airport. Founded by Nokia, a new alliance named In-Location alliance including 20 different companies including Samsung electronics, Sony Mobile Communications, Qualcomm.

According to a blogpost by Nokia, the Fnnish Company focuses on the feature named Nokia High Accuracy Indoor Positioning (HAIP) Solution, using a modified new generation, low energy feature of the Bluetooth® 4.0 specification, that allows for an accuracy of one meter. The blog adds the accuracy can be extended to 20 centimeters with further changes.
The indoor location of a component in a position or on an object can be calculated by HAIP antenna elements installed in the ceiling or the area from the reception of the wireless signal that is transmitted by the component. The components can be installed in a mobile device, or they can be made as separate tags, which can be attached to any asset.
Here is a video for the Indoor Navigation by Nokia.
It seems like this new Indoor GPS feature (already having trial tests) is to be showcased in the upcoming Nokia and Microsoft event on September 5 to launch New Nokia Smartphones 'Phi' and 'Arrow', believed to have the HAIP.
